Choir leader Stefan Attard and chorister Silvana Sultana visited Mro. Bartolucci in his residence in Rome. The Maestro remembered well the visit of the choristers, way back to September 2007. He showed great interest in what the choir is preparing for the Holy Week. During the conversation, one can pinpoint that the Maestro, though of a venerate age, is aware of what is happening around. His love for the liturgy is expressed continually in his talk, particularly his musical competence. He presented the latest cds released, some masses and a new released biography. At a certain point, the conversation turned to the fact that His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI will be visiting Malta in the coming April. The Maestro, a great friend of His Holiness, remembered when he visited Malta with the Sistine Chapel Choir over thirty years ago. He mentioned also a great friend of his, the Archbishop Emeritus Joseph Mercieca who was instrumental in allowing the then young priest Fr. Renzo Cilia to pursue his studies in music with the Maestro. Eventually Mgr. Cilia, now lecturer at the Pontifica Musica Sacra, lives next to Mro. Bartolucci and is his personal attendant and best friend.
