Saturday, 20, Feb, 2010 Concert by the Chamber Saxophone Quartet

The Chamber Saxophone Quartet during the performanceThe Chamber Saxophone Quartet performed during a concert ‘Saxophones without boarders' at the Exhibition Hall, Ministry for Gozo in Victoria . The programme included pieces by Boccherini, Zemp, Florenzo, Iturralde, Matitia, Jenkins, Mancini. Chorister and saxophonist Philip Attard performed with great enthusiasm as always. The Quartet was formed by advanced students from the Johann Strauss School of Music and the Gozo School of Music. They were led by their teacher Joseph Vella. Apart from Philip who played the Soprano Saxophone, there were Joseph Vella and Samuel Farrugia on the Alto Saxophone and Angelo Borg on the Tenor Saxophone. The audience appreciated such concert rather unusual for our island.

It's all a matter of opinion Maria but honestly, was that comment necessary? If you don't like a certain choir, you just don't go to their concerts not leave a comment like this on their site. You are talking about two different choirs, different styles and repertoire. Some people can be so ignorant. I saw this and I could not help comment. keep up the good work SCJ

As the Schola Cantorum Jubilate leader i accept your opinion but i think that you can’t generalise. To say that the Enkor choir is the best is not my competence. I leave this in the hands of the music critics. It is very unprofessional and mediocre to compare the genre of a gospel choir to a polyphonic one. Apart from all this i’m sure that we perform the right and genuine music in liturgy which the roman catholic church is urging to conserve…however you choose!

Dear Maria, Thanks for your comment. We appreciate your sincerity. However, if you don't like our repertoire, go to listent to others. That's why there is the variety. Thanks again.
